LHU Korean Studies students win awards at National Korean Speech Contest

Students from the Korean Studies program at LHU achieved outstanding success at the Southern Regional Semi-final of the 2026 National Korean Speaking Contest – Korean Ambassador's Cup, held on July 25, 2026, winning one Third prize and one Consolation prize. These achievements once again reflects the University's strong academic training and excellence in Korean language education.

The Southern Regional Semi-final, held at the Korean International School (KIS), was jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, the Korean Language Centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and the King Sejong Institute, with support from Ewha Womans University, the Korea Tourism Organization, and Jeju Air. The competition brought together 37 contestants from universities and institutions across Southern Vietnam.

The Contest is a prestigious academic competition for Vietnamese students with a passion for the Korean language. Through a series of speech presentations, contestants demonstrate not only their language proficiency but also their critical thinking, presentation skills, confidence, and understanding of Korean culture. LHU's success at this year's competition further demonstrates the quality of its Korean Studies program and the effectiveness of its practice-oriented language training.

Representing LHU, Pham Thuy Uyen, a fourth-year student in the Korean Studies program, was awarded Third prize for her speech on the courage to take the first step and embrace challenges as a pathway to success in life. Meanwhile, Vu Thi Phuong Thao, a first-year Korean Studies student, received the Consolation prize for her presentation comparing the cultural significance of Korea's traditional bojagi wrapping cloth with Vietnam's iconic khan ran (checkered scarf).

These achievements add to the growing record of success by Korean Studies students at prestigious academic competitions and reflect LHU's commitment to developing foreign language proficiency, communication skills, and global competencies among its students..

The outstanding performances of Pham Thuy Uyen and Vu Thi Phuong Thao reflect their dedication, perseverance, and strong Korean language proficiency.
